対照的だが、どちらも愛しいと思えるガラスの表情。その魅力を表現したいと思い、連作「dual」が生まれました。

摺りガラスのようなマットな質感と、艶やかで煌びやかな質感〈模様＝パターン〉を外側から見た時と内側から見た時。

艶やかな橙色のガラスにパターンとして施したのは「七宝文」という日本の伝統文様を分解、再構築して生まれた“SHIPPO”、マットな質感のGreyのガラスに施したのは「余白」をパターンとして表現した“BLANK”です。SHIPPOは水を灌ぐとレンズ効果で面白い表情が生まれたり、BLANKに花を活けると余白から茎が覗いたり。

光、水、お花など、新たな要素が加わることで、更に違った表情を見せてくれます。

 

Expressions of glass that form a contrast, but each have their own appeal. The allure of these juxtapositions gave rise to the “dual” series.

 

The matte texture of frosted glass, set against glossy, sparkling shine.

Patterns meant to be seen from both the outside and the inside.

 

Shippo, the pattern of the glossy orange glass, was created by deconstructing and reconstructing the traditional Japanese pattern known as shippo-mon (“seven treasures”), while Blank, the pattern of the matte grey glass, expresses the concept of blank spaces.

When water is poured into the Shippo vessel, a beguiling impression is created by the lens effect; when flowers are arranged in the Blank vessel, their stems peek through from the blank spaces.Further aesthetic expressions can be co-created by adding fresh elements—light, water, or flowers.
