• CUPS「KIKKA」

元々堀口硝子（親方のお祖父様が始めた会社）にあった「菊花文（きっかもん）」のデザインを親方がリデザインして作った「菊花文ぐい呑（きっかもんぐいのみ）」に、SENA MISAWAとして新たな変化を加えたものが「KIKKA」です。私も”伝統”の中の一端に加わりたいという憧れの思いと、何よりこの「菊花文」が大好きで、技術的にも奥深いと思っているので、作りました。 「菊花文」は 菊＝喜久 から、喜びが久しくあることを願う文様です。

The “KIKKA” pattern originates from the popular pattern made in Horiguchi Glass (founded by Toru’s Grandfather): “Kikkamon”. Toru redesigned the “Kikkamon” and created the “Kikkamon Gui-nomi” (sake cup), and SENA MISAWA added a twist to it to create “KIKKA”. I am grateful to be a part of the tradition I have longed for, but also genuinely fond of the “Kikkamon” pattern, and the profound skills that are required to create it. The name “Kikka” comes from the flower “Kiku”, which can also be written with the Kanjis meaning “happiness” and “for a long time”, implying the wish for “long lasting happiness”.
